Location
The Ciutadella neighborhood has many charming features, and one of its main attractions is the beautiful Parc de la Ciutadella. The area was once the site of an old fortress built in the 18th century, but was later redesigned and converted into an enormous public park. Inside the park is the Barcelona Zoo, a grand fountain built for the 1888 Universal Exhibition, a lake, and the Museum of Natural History. The colossalArc de Triomf, built as the gateway for the Universal Exhibition, is located at the end of the park, following an extension of palm trees and a large walkway for pedestrians.
Around the park, you will find a number of restaurants, shops, boutiques, and museums. The area is home to many Barcelona apartments sandwiched between El Born and Poble Nou, giving you easy access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and dining areas in Barcelona.
