Location
Sant Martí is a district in the northeast of Barcelona, located just right of Eixample Derecho. It maintains the grid pattern of L'Eixample, in keeping with Illdefons Cerdà's plan for the city's development during the 1900s. Sant Martí is primarily a residential area, with many local restaurants, bars, and shops along its streets. Located just north of the Barcelona beaches, it is surrounded by many recent development projects, including the Fòrum and Diagonal Mar neighborhoods. These developments have added a new cultural aspect to the area, with an influx of stylish, recently constructed buildings, hotels, and restaurants. It is a great place to stay, and there are many Barcelona apartments in this zone that are in close proximity to the beaches and the city center, while remaining within a quieter and more relaxing area than the busy, more central districts.
